What Prop Tracker can do for your business

In the past Naval Architects provided the technical knowledge and experience, and propeller shops used their years of experience to beat and machine propellers into shape ‘by eye'.

With modern computer technology we have been able to accumulate all this propeller history, theory, knowledge and experience then combine it with the latest computerized digital electronic measuring equipment to create our new Prop Tracker Package.

This package contains volumes of technical data, measurement data, formulas, rules, operations, methods, techniques, and most importantly years of propeller experience.

Marina operators can now quickly and simply measure the propeller, let the computer do the calculations and the software present the state of the propeller as it truly is. Problems are identified allowing a plan to be immediately put into action to resolve the problem. All with no previous propeller experience as the computer places all this experience and knowledge at your finger tips.

With the Prop Tracker Technology Package you can: -

  • Identify a damaged propeller that is not visibly damaged.
  • Identify engine overloading (black smoke).
  • Discover if a boats vibration is caused by the propeller or something else.
  • Find out the cause of a boats engine over revving.
  • Calculate to see if the propeller fitted to the boat is the correct size.
  • Verify if the calculated speed is being achieved by the boat.
  • Calculate the best propeller size for a boat.
  • Estimate boat speed.
  • Calculate the pitch change required to achieve the correct RPM.
  • Determine if the engine synchronization problem is caused by the propellers the engines or possibly the gearboxes.
  • Determine if the prop repair or rework is up to standard.
  • Find out if the old propellers as suitable for the new engines.
  • If the gearbox ratio has changed – Determine whether the same props will work on the boat.
  • Identify a good propeller and more importantly a bad propeller.
  • Determine if the second hand propeller will suit the boat.
  • Find out why the spare propeller works better than the new ones.
  • Reduce the frustration level – disruption – delays – costs.
  • Offer a better service – Get it right first time – and make a good profit.

If a propeller needs repair or rework performed by your local prop shop, a before and after measurement can avoid the costly extra haul out and scheduling due to a substandard propeller job.
